iPhonegraphy Apps

For many of us who blog, I believe that we are constantly looking at mobility when we blog, sharing of our lives stories through social media platforms. Nothing beats having a photo that could tell a story. I've been using my iPhone's camera more often than my DSLR, m4/3, instax. Moments captured by an iPhone are also being used to inspire a scrapbooking layout. I've recently done 2 layouts using my iPhone's photos and the results are quite amazing in my opinion. You can check them out here and here. So what apps do I used for my iPhonegraphy? I've been a faithful user of Hipstamatic I've bought most of the paks and I love the different photos that I've taken which gives me different moods and feels. When you shake your iPhone while using the app, it will set you random selection of lens, films and flashes, combine a surprisingly unexpected outcome of the scene that you try to capture.

20130612-003631.jpg There's even different camera cases that you could select to suit your style when you snap the moments! The other App that I've recently chance upon is VSCO Cam. The user interface of the app is super cool and such well thought user-friendly gestures are rarely found in developers. Moreover, having been an established Visual Supply Co., who deals with filters of digital photos, I must say I am impressed with the presets that I can used to PP my captured moments. Here is a review that you can read of the detail features of this app. The next editing tool app that I used often is snapseed, by google. The moment this app is available, I downloaded and pretty impressed with the iPad version and how intuitive it allowed me to edit my photos, again by gestures. I could do a quick PP and then share out to the social media platforms I chose to, like instagram, Facebook, twitter etc.

20130612-004948.jpg After my editing of photos, I'll add further caption to make the photos more interesting as well as letting my audience know when the moment was captured. I've tried a few and I'm still inclined to use Phonto. It's a Ad-based text editing tool for photos and comes free. It does allow me to upload the fonts that I like and this is awesome! I could have handwriting fonts, doodling, dingbats etc!

20130612-005405.jpg That roughly sums up my iPhonegraphy process and I hope you would like the apps recommended and enjoy capturing the every moments! If you are sharing via socia media, of the photos ,captured, edited, do share with me. instagram @charis21 twitter @emoh Happy iPhonegraphy!

{inspired-to-create} – What inspires me?

I've started taking the e-class with blogging your way conducted by Holly Becker. The reason for me to relook into the way I am blogging online is because I wanted a focus to the blog that I can document my passionate stuffs. Throughout the years, I've found many different aspects of life inspiring things. However, I have to also admit that not all of these things, which I can focus completely and have a great talent, passion on. During the first week of BYW, we are suppose to blog one of the given topics by Holly. So here I am, beginning the new chapter of my blogging journey. gbtb-lensbabe-kids.jpg Yes, it's this two darlings. The precious and close to my heart. No amount of words can express the inspirations that they have given me. The reason of why I blog, why I scrapbook, why I create the things that I love to. Is to keep memories, moments that happen around them. Even till now, the photographs taken and scrapbook layouts that I've created are of them. At times, the exasperation of parenting journey, the hair pulling experience when the kids refuse to conform to our instructions. However, the little moments of them telling us they love us, the kisses that they gave us and the hugs from the little hands, just melt my heart's away. The days of stress, tiredness, injustice just get washed away when I am welcome by their presence at home, picking them up at school. Then it came to a stage where I want to bring the skill of photography to a next level and also be proficient in it. I invested in gears, reading about photography skills, composition and all. It can only be through practice and practice, trying out different perspective when a camera is in hand. Through the years, find inspirations from photography blogs, magazine and learning from peers whom have like-minded interest as me. I feel privilege as i am working in an IT firm which have many of similar interest whom I can learn from as well. Not forgetting we are able to exchange gears to experiments. The photo taken above was shot from Lens Baby Composer, loan from a good friend of mine and I've tried it out during our trip to Gardens By the Bay. I have taken many many shots and of course out of these, some are moments that I will pick and document in blog or in scrapbook layout. It helps too when my hubby, himself has a keen interest in photography. Therefore, the cameras that we have invested are utilized to their fullest. I do frequently visit sites / blogs to read more about various photography interests. Sites like, Flickr, Shutter Sisters, mu4/3 forum, Ming Thein, The Orange County Family Photographer by Tara Whitney to name a few. These websites give me an amount of knowledge to improve my photography skills and especially important on Journalistic Photography that portray the story by one photo. I hope that the new chapter of my blog will bring altogether the focus of my passion and moving it up to the value chain and create a readership for my friends and visitors. If you are dropping by and is also a fellow avid photographer, tell me what are the key areas that you would like a blog to share about for photography and what keeps you glue to a photography blog. Till my next post… have a blessed week ahead!

It’s unusual, but I did it

I have been contemplating on a few purchases in mine, it's not the usual online purchases like amazon or BR, Gap etc. It's to rekindle my passion for something that I wish I have time for, which I have been neglecting. It's sad but I have to acknowledge, I have been very disorganized in terms of time management on the personal and work front. It starts to take a toll on my own well-being as well as to identify the grey line. I feel that I am less healthy mentally, physically due to juggling these routines. So, i was surfing the web and I have gone on to here, decided to sign up since it's still open for registration! Viola! I've did it! committed myself to a session of workshop and divesting my focus to my personal interest again. Of course the idea of blogging with relevance and interests of photography push me forward even more. Glad that I did it. No more hesitation but conviction to spend the time each week to do this workshop. I hope the end results prove to be rewarding and change my perspective of the 1st online learning for me!

Some test shots

Have realised the repaired 50mm f/1.4 is not performing up to it's mark. Thus, I am trying out again on the 5DMII and learning how to have optimal performance at which aperture and shutter speed. I really wish I can master the of handling the 5DMII soon. Hope it's not the lens issue and it's a EUP matter.

How Fun to Have it in hands

the Hello Kitty Fuji Instax 25 has arrived! Ooow.. I was so inspired to snap with it and I tried a shot in office. Taken my very first virgin shot of Cindy and Bee Kee. 🙂 A bit washed out and I think the blurriness of the photo is due to my shaky hands, being hungry.. haahaha... Here are the loot. 😀

I managed to do a self portrait that turn out quite ok. Also, the colors are pretty cool (muted) and the clarity in auto exposure is acceptable. The fun part of having a Instax is the instant you can see the output of your shot which gives the refreshing feel and eagerness to view how the shot will look like. Anyway, I am now one happy woman, waiting to snap more at my sweet princess birthday party. 🙂 OOh, and I have also edited some photos of the kids, taken for the past weeks.

NDP 2009

NDP 2009, eventful and memorable. Eventful as Grace chipped her front tooth off when she ran and fell down, face flat, hitting her mouth. Heart pain!! She cried badly and the left tooth chipped in awkward ways that resulted in a very sharp pointed tooth. Need to send her to see the dentist soon. We had quite a long wait at the Esplanade Theatre by the Bay. It was a good area where we were still able to watched the parade happenings and also catch the sea activities by the Navy and Air Force. It was Grace first NDP event and she was restless, sweaty. Despite her broken tooth, she ate quite a bit of tidbits, munching happily with her cousins. Here are some photos taken by my Olive Prince nephew and me.

More of the photoes can be view here here's a video of the finale fireworks Time to rest, had a long day teaching my god daughter in card making. Fruitful and fun... hope this week pass by smoothly and yours too.
