NDP 2009, eventful and memorable.

Eventful as Grace chipped her front tooth off when she ran and fell down, face flat, hitting her mouth. Heart pain!!
She cried badly and the left tooth chipped in awkward ways that resulted in a very sharp pointed tooth. Need to send her to see the dentist soon.

We had quite a long wait at the Esplanade Theatre by the Bay. It was a good area where we were still able to watched the parade happenings and also catch the sea activities by the Navy and Air Force. It was Grace first NDP event and she was restless, sweaty. Despite her broken tooth, she ate quite a bit of tidbits, munching happily with her cousins. Here are some photos taken by my Olive Prince nephew and me.

More of the photoes can be view here

here’s a video of the finale fireworks

Time to rest, had a long day teaching my god daughter in card making. Fruitful and fun… hope this week pass by smoothly and yours too.

We celebrated Grace’s Full Month on Sunday. It was a small affair with relatives and close friends.
There were quite a lot of kids especially with those from Olive Tree’s side. We catered the buffet from Mum’s Kitchen, not bad just a tad bit salty for some dishes.

here’s the photo taken from yesterday.

nite scene from Top of the M

Captured on the night when we had our very first dining experience at Top of the M. The occasion: celebrate Jon’s Birthday. It’s Seth very first experience, but obviously to him, it’s just like any kind of dinner. As for me, I’ve to wait for 3 decades to be able to have such an experience! bwhaahhaha….what a funny thought. The restaurant has such a quiet ambience and at certain times, Seth was bubbling so loudly that we were so embarrassed. The waiters and waitresses were so nice to come over and play with Seth. One even offered chocolate truffles filled with mint ice cream for Seth! Too bad, my darling son don’t know how to appreciate and those went into our tummies instead. (**,)
happy seth
You can see he enjoyed himself loads. Playing and being entertained. He was even entertained by the live strings group (or whatever you call that) with “You are my sunshine” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars”. That amazed him! We had a dinner set for 4 of us. Seth simply enjoyed the onion soup (how luxury is it, as the onion soup cost SGD28 if to order by itself!) He practically chomped the bread which was served. Fine dining indeed and the food served does meet the reputation of the restaurant. (thumbs-up) I managed a photo of the dessert, ice cream sorbet (yummy) with fruits in wafer basket.

dessert birthday cake

After the dessert, we almost blow our tummies. (“o) By the time we completed our dinner course, we almost complete one revolution of the restaurant. Seth was pretty up-tied and kept pestering us to bring him around. He just want to climb up the spiral stairs… (faint). How can a celebration of birthday be complete without a birthday cake? We wanted to sing birthday song, but the old bro of mine, refuse. hee… pai sei. So it was just simply candles blowing, a minute of secret wishes and cake cutting. Somehow, we managed to stomach a slice (small slice) of cake each despite the sumptuous dinner. It was definitely a night to remember with lots of laughters and enjoyment. Thanks to Marg for inviting us.

We have been cracking our brains what to eat for Mother’s Day dinner. So, on Friday night, out with Jon and Marg for dinner at Quality Hotel porridge buffet, I spontaneously suggested to cook for our mom. They were game about it and so we planned the pot luck session.

Early morning on Saturday, Olive Tree and I woke up at 5am to go to the Fishery Port to get the freshest catch, hoping to get pomfret, prawns and crabs. However, we reached there a tad bit late as most of the good stuffs were wholesaled out and we manage to purchase only the pomfret which was a good buy at S$25.00 for 2 big and fresh fish. Thereafter, we went to Chong Pang market for more marketing, got the crabs and prawns there. Talking about prawns, we had a bad experience with one stall at the Fishery Port. We came across this fella, at mid 30s, who seems to have quite a fair bit of prawns left. So I asked him, “How much are you selling for 1kg of prawns?” He said, “S$15.00″. I asked Olive Tree how much we want to get, so I replied back to the fishmonger, “how about half a kg?” He shot me a look, condescendingly answered me, “HALF KG?” You go next door that guy and buy from him lar…half kg… minimum you have to buy 3KG!!” Then he turned to one of the fellow fishmonger and mocked at me….. I was darn pissed about it. Com’ on, it’s not that he is selling me cheap or anything and he still say I have to buy 3KG at least!!?? Crap manz! I should have told him this, “Hey! You always sell fish, maybe should take a break, after work, go out and get a kite to fly!!!!” Olive Tree said we just leave and go to Chong Pang Market to get the prawns.

At the market, we checked out the prawns, which is exactly the same type, and asked the auntie, she quoted us the same price!!! I just gladly buy from her 1KG! The fish we bought were of a bargain, compared to the market. It was some experience to have gone to the Fishery Port and check out the catches, but if you are the kind who can’t take fishy smell, better not venture else u might get all fishy when you leave the place! hahaha! We went home, Olive Tree did the de-intestines work for the fish and here what we have to share… (“,)

While Olive Tree is doing that, this is what Seth’s busy about…..

Seth's style

Isn’t that funny!?

We went to mom’s place for lunch and head to TVC open house where I got some SB stuffs. Thereafter, home to cook the dishes. It was meant to be a surprise for my mom and I asked dad to join us as well since he isn’t working now. Jack was to picked them up and send them to Jon’s place for dinner. So by 7.45pm, we had the dinner ready on the table……

dishes of love

Jon did the cereal buttered prawns, while Olive Tree cooked the black pepper prawns and fried the beancurds stuffed with mincede port, fishballs and fish cakes. I did the Coke Pork Ribs and fried broccoli with capsicums and carrots. Fish was steamed (least effort!) by Jack (If he really did it!) Fried Chicken was by Marg. Mom’s curry was on the table…. (which was cooked in the day). There we have a sumptuous meal with total ingredients value of not more that S$105! haha! Effort is : Priceless!

dad and mom

There’s our parents eating at the table. Hope they love the food we prepared. (“,)

It was tiring but fulfilling to have cooked for the family. Especially to Olive Tree, who never fancy fish, especially can’t take the fishy smell, accompanied me to the fishery port and de-intestines the fish! Love you heaps!

This weekend wasn’t very pleasant for me. Too eventful and heart attacks happenings.

We were at Kluang for Jon’s and Marg Wedding Dinner yesterday. In the morning, Seth broke my glasses, I got splinter as long as 2 cm went through my thumb. Fuming hot with such a bad happening. Of course, I would not want this to spoil the happy occasion of my bro’s wedding. Trip went pretty ok. I was the photographer for them for the day and night. Captured many shots. Some which I was pretty pleased with. Though tiring but it’s fruitful and things for them went on quite smoothly. When dinner was about to finish, and they went round to toast to the relatives, I was taking the photoes. Darn at the moment, my digital camera reflect ERR 02! I was in shocked! I saw the flash and then I off the digital camera again. Total horror, the displayed shown “ERR CF” I almost fainted and my face in total dejection. I told my eldest bro, Jack and his face, “went crooked”!!! OH MANZ! It’s the worse that can happen! I can’t sleep last night. I don’t know how to face Jon and Marg. I wanted to tell them very sorry and being truthful about it but so worried! End of the dinner, Jon even said “thank you” which made me feel even worst!

With sleepless night, I have to woke up at 6plus to get ready to return SG as Jack’s eldest boy has swimming class. So we took off at 8.30am. Hoping to reach SG in time (11am) for Joel’s class. Almost halfway through the journey, Jack asked me, “where’s your passports?” I exclaimed!! “OH NO!! Then said, it’s in my handbag. I opened up and realised, no passports! OH another shit. This time round really makes my heart boils and screaming!!! Marg told me that the passports were placed in my handbag when I asked her on Saturday. So being assuming, I didn’t check before I left hotel and now, no passports! We end up, driving back and have to meet Jon and Marg at Kluang’s Toll to get our passports. URRRGH! How terrible can it be??

The only comforting words are, my family didn’t blame me for the detour. Even that it caused Joel to be late for his lesson. Comforting as well, as Olive Tree will be back in the day, and I can see him. Comforting again, that I manage to search through the internet and found the software to rescue my corrupted files! though some are corrupted but the main files are recovered. Price to paid US29… but what to do, it’s always like that when it comes to digital photography!
